Zhang Haidi applauds higher education for the disabled
Binzhou Medical University celebrated the 30th anniversary of its program for higher education for the disabled on Dec 20, 2015 and received a congratulatory letter from Zhang Haidi, president of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation.
Zhang said in the letter that the university established the special education program 30 years ago out of a strong sense of social responsibility and care for the disabled. Since then, the university has become a dream place for those disabled who are determined to pursue medical science. The opportunity is a light in the dark for them. Many disabled students have graduated from the university over the past 20 years and are now helping patients; some have become leaders and experts in their fields. The university has helped them realize their dreams and thus proven the value and significance of the disabled people. It has continued to provide better higher education for the disabled. Zhang said she was proud of the university and hoped that it will play a greater role in promoting career development of the disabled.
Cheng Kai, vice president of the federation, Xu Guoqin, vice president of the Shandong disabled persons’association, and Jin Zhihai, vice mayor of Yantai, were present at the celebration.
