National employment assistance month kicks off in Sichuan
The national employment assistance month kicked off in Deyang, Sichuan province on Jan 19 to help those with difficulties getting employed, registered unemployed people with disabilities and registered poor rural households.
Xin Changxing, vice minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and Cheng Kai, vice chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, attended the opening ceremony.
Cheng pointed out that it’s key to increase the employment opportunities and income of the disabled and their families and to ensure that they enjoy the same quality of life as other people. All regions are asked to implement the instructions of Premier Li Keqiang on improving employment of the disabled, strengthening their vocational education and skills training, carrying out and improving various supportive employment policies, and giving more support to the impoverished in rural areas.
Xin and Cheng visited the employment assistance station and social service center at the Longjing community in the Deyang economic and technological development zone before the kick-off ceremony to learn about implementation of relevant local policies and the development of tailored services for the disabled.
The employment assistance month is a national campaign that lasts from early January to mid-February. On the launch day, a special job fair was held at the Deyang human resources market.
Cheng also toured local communities after the ceremony and visited two poor families with disabled members. He delivered holiday greetings to them.
