China celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The high-level intergovernmental meeting for the midpoint review of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities was held in Beijing from Nov 27 to Dec 1. The result of the meeting was the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan, which has now been published. About 350 delegates attended the event.
The document reviews work done for people with disabilities in the past five years. It recognizes the effort of the Chinese government, promises special attention to persons with disabilities in the construction of a community of common destiny in Asia Pacific, and enhances regional cooperation.

The 11th National Disability Forum was held in Fudan University on Dec 2. With a theme of “development of the disability cause with Chinese characteristics in the new era”, the forum focused on theoretical and practical innovations that can further promote the development of the disability cause in China.

The 2nd National Winter Sports Season for Persons with Disabilities is to be held from December 2017 to March 2018, creating more opportunities for the disabled to take part in winter sports.
Regional disabled persons’federations also held various activities to celebrate the International Day.
According to officials from the CDPF, it is a common goal of different countries to help people with disabilities get involved in development. China has long been promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in human rights protection for the disabled and is willing to share its experience and enhance cooperation with other countries.
