The Tour of Qinghai Lake has been successfully held 18 times, and the bike race for people with disabilities has been held as a derivative event six times, said Wen. One of the highlights of this year's Tour of Qinghai Lake for people with disabilities is that the autistic people participated in a large-scale international sports event for the first time, showing the world the positive image of Chinese people with autism and advocating the advanced concept of equal respect for the mentally disabled. The event aims to promote social acceptance, tolerance, understanding and support for people with mental disabilities. Some parents of autistic children from Yantai, Shandong province said, This event is very meaningful. The experience of the children in the riding process is what we cannot give on our own. Only such a large-scale event can let the children experience it themselves. This kind of experience is more precious than anything else. I am very grateful to the organizers of this event. It is really not easy, and this is the first time that autistic children have participated in such an event in Chinese history. I think its meaning is really far-reaching."

The theme of this year's event is "rehabilitation, participating in Paralympics, and celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China." With the innovation in the way of running the road cycling race for people with disabilities, it will build a platform for rehabilitation and competition for them across the country, encouraging and helping them to participate in sports activities, and promoting social tolerance, understanding and support.
