第十二单元 旅游

　　 欧美人在工作之余，娱乐、消遣的方式五花八门，但有一种是几乎大家都喜欢的，那就是旅行，这已成为他们文化生活的一部分了。
　　 我国是一个旅游大国，风景名胜古迹很多，来我国旅游的国际友人与日俱增。2008年，首都北京将举办第29届奥运会，笔者在第四部分中除了本单元的部分单词和习惯用语解释外，另加了北京市主要名胜、景点名称的英译，以供读者参考。

Part 1 Easy Colloquial expressions
第一部分 简易用语

1. Are you going to go any places this year?
今年你准备去什么地方玩？

2. If I have enough money, I'm going to take a trip abroad.
假如我有足够的钱，我准备去国外旅行一次。

3. How are you going? Are you going by boat?
你准备怎么去？准备坐船吗？

4. It's faster to go by plane than by boat.
坐飞机比乘船快。

5. I hope you have a good time on your trip.
祝你旅途愉快。

6. Bon voyage!
一路平安！

7. I'm going by air. I like flying.
我准备乘飞机，我喜欢飞行。

8. I'll see you off at the airport.

此次列车到达广州的时间正好接上到深圳的火车。

17. You may walk across the bridge of Luohu where you take the train to Hongkong.
你可以走过罗湖桥，在那里你乘火车直到香港。

18. May I have your flight number, please?
请告诉我你的航次。

19. May I see your passport?
让我看一看你的护照。

20. Welcome aboard the Luxury cruise bus to Nanjing.

Part 2 Short Situational Dialogue

The Subway Station
地铁站

A: Excuse me, but can you speak English?
对不起，您会说英语吗？

B: Yes, a little. What can I do for you?
会一点。有什么事要我帮忙？

A: Could you tell me where the nearest subway station is ?
您能告诉我最近的地铁站在哪儿吗？

B: Sure, just come with me, I'm going to take the subway too.
没问题，跟我一起走就行了，我也要去坐地铁。

A: Oh, that's wonderful. Thank you very much.
太好了，谢谢您。

B: Are you from America?
您是美国人吗？

A: No, I'm from Australia.
不是，我是澳大利亚人。

B: Oh, I have a cousin in Australia. He's studying at Sydney University.
我有个表兄弟在澳大利亚。他在悉尼大学上学。

A: Is he? I'm from Sydney. I know some Chinese students there. What's the name of your cousin?
是吗？我就是从悉尼来的。我认识几个那儿的中国学生。你的表兄弟叫什么名字？

B: His name is Li Ping. He studies law there.
他叫李平，在那儿学法律。

A:Li Ping … I don't think I know him. There are two or three hundred Chinese students in
Sydney, you know.
李平……我不认识他。你知道，在悉尼有两三百个中国学生呢。

B: Oh, here we are. The Jianguomen subway station.
喔，到了。建国门地铁站。

A: There are four entrances, is that right ?
有四个入口处是吗？

B:That's right.. . It's a long way down. There's no elevator downwards, only up wards.
是的……往下走好远呢。只有往上走的电扶梯，没有往下走的。

A: Yes, I can see.
对，我看到了。

Part 3 Key Points
第三部分 重点提示

一、第5，6两句是祝福语，即"旅途愉快"。除此之外, 还可以?quot;Have a pleasant journey", "May we wish you a pleasant flight"等。
二、英语绝大多数的动词短语是由动词加介词或副词组成。有很多动词短语，后面跟的介词或副词虽是同形，但意义却是不同的。例如：
A. She looked up the street to see who is coming. 她朝大街看去，看谁来了。（"up"是介词）
B. She looked up the train time. 她查出火车行车时刻。（"up" 是副词）
上面两例是动词短语，"up"却是一个确定动词短语意义的主要成份。遇到这种情况，除了靠上下文，借助于词典和读音（副词重读，介词不重读）来辨别和区分动词短语中的介词、副词外，另一个确定动词短语意义的方法就是看代词宾语的位置，即名词宾语通常放在动词短语的介词之后，而代词宾语则要插在动词短语中动词与副词之间。试比较：
A: I looked at the man, I looked at him. 我注视着那个人，我注视着他。（"at"是介词）
B: She looked up the train time. She looked it up. 她查出火车行车时间，她把它查出。（"up"是副词）
本文的I'll see you off at the airport. "see off "(送行)中的"off"是副词，故把代词宾语"you"插在动词短语中的动词与副词之间。
三、在英语的知觉动词 see（看见）、hear（听见）、feel （感觉）和使能动词make（使……）、let（让……）、have（叫……）等词的宾语后面，"to"都省略。例如：
I see him come. 我见他来。
本单元第13句中的"know"前也省略了"to"。
